Let’s go to the Zoo!

Oh the weather outside is freezing,
Four degrees- and I’m not teasing!
But since we work for OhioHealth,
Let’s go to zoo! Let’s go to the zoo! Let’s go to the zoo!

It doesn't show signs of warming,
but we've got hot coco for consuming!
And since we’re all bundled up.
Let’s go to zoo! Let’s go to the zoo! Let’s go to the zoo!

We hear the music playing,
How we love to see the lights bright.
All the animals are up and running,
What a fun night be out!

Our toes are slowly chilling,
And, my dear, we're still paroozing!
But since you love me so,
We went to the zoo! We went to the zoo! We went the zoo!

Abort the Torte!

Do you recognize this?

Hillary likened it unto this-

It was my attempt at a poppy seed torte.
                A failed attempt.

Here’s wishing myself better luck next time.

Love Notes

Before Sean left for his away rotations he prepared little love notes for me. He hid them in all sorts of places around our apartment so that I would find them over the course of his absence.

Then this morning (even though he has been home for a few weeks now) I found the last one  and decided it was about time I share with you what my amazing husband did to lessen the sting of being with out him for 3 months.

I found his notes in places such as my pants pocket, in my wallet, the pocket of my purse and hiding in the drawer that houses my hair products. They were in my jewelry box and tucked in my Sunday shoes. There was one in the egg carton and under the flowers he had brought home earlier. One was under the litter box so it would be discovered when I was cleaning up. They acted as book marks in my school and leisure books, waiting under the remote and inside my socks. The one I found today- in the Band-Aid box!

I am so blessed to be married to such a wonderful man. I often have to stop and marvel at this life I am living and the joy that has overtaken my soul.

This was a little gesture that was neither requested nor required but because of his thoughtfulness it made a huge difference while he was away.

Some things to love

(I know this is about a week behind but I want to remember all things in life I love at this time)

• A husband who loves me and makes sure I know it.

• A medical student who has completed away rotations (which means after 3 months he is home again!)

• Away Rotations- the things Sean learned and the experiences he gained during his time in San Antonio, Utah and Rochester Minnesota at the Mayo Clinic would not have been gained if he had stayed in Ohio.

• Family that supports, listens and loves. Always.

• Technology that seemingly lessens the distance between here and Utah.

• 2 reliable cars.

• The adventures and lessons we are learning in Ohio.

• All the traveling we are doing and places we are seeing.

• An unconventional Thanksgiving in Indianapolis at Cracker Barrel.

• The patience I am learning as we prepare for Match Day and residency.

• A job that provides an income and health insurance.

• Good health.

• A place to call home.

• Someone to come home to who will always be there.

Geography Lesson

  •   Rochester, Minnesota
                        Sean
                  Mayo Clinic

  • Galloway, Ohio
                  Makenna
                  Darby

  • Chicago, Illinois
                  Midway between Rochester and Galloway.

  • Ohio, Indiana and Illinois (6 hour drive)
                  Harry Potter keeping me company.

                        Ohio:
Turned over corn fields and gray clouds

                        Indiana:
Windmills!
Do you remember these windmills?

My favorite windmills in the world!

I learned they come accompanied with Red Lights. I was driving along and it was as dark as can be when all the sudden thousands of red lights filled the horizon!
Every single windmill has a red light on top of it that blinks at the same time. I wish I could have gotten a picture.

          Illinois:
I got lost trying to find the hotel. I was being so brave driving to a huge new city but I was getting nervous toward the end when my phone was beeping low battery and I wasn’t sure was. Alas, I made it. And Sean had TGIF’s waiting in the hotel room for dinner. Such a good man!

  • Chicago:

Willis Tower (Formally know as Sear's Tower)
(also known as the tallest tower in the Untied States)

There was a Plexi glass box extended from the building so you could look down!

Some fun facts for you

                    Greek Town:

I don't like drinking water that has ice in it without a straw.
However, in Greek Town they don't believe in regular straws so they gave me 2 alcohol straws to make up for it.

So Good!

                    Magnificent Mile:

Lots and lots of shopping!

                    Navy Pier:

Navy Pier first opened in 1916, it was designed as a shipping and recreational facility. It also served as a military training site during two world wars. Now it is full of restaurants, shops and little museums.

                   Lake Michigan:
