Ms. Dion

Yesterday S and a few school mates were hanging out with a new friend Steve. S has a picture of me from our wedding with him and when Steve saw it he got really excited and asked if I was Celine Dion!? That would be cool! Alas I was not, am not. Thanks Steve for dreaming big though!

Makenna's Top 10

This is kind of like Letterman's top 10 except that there are less than 10 and mine are not as funny.
However, here they are....

10. Break lights fixed!
I went to Advanced auto parts on Monday after work, thankfully I didn't get rear-ended.  I walked into the store and the guy behind the counter- we will call him Ryan. (Mostly because that is his name) asked me if he could help me.  I was very pleased with his eagerness and replied with "Yes! Someone told me my break lights were out and I would like you to come outside with me and see if that is true, if it is I need help me fixing them." I thought the most direct approach would get me the best results. I was right! I now have 2 fine break lights! Thanks Ryan.

9. Pay day!
    Enough said.

8. Taming of the Shrew.
Liz, one of the RN's I work with, is currently Bianca in this play. I love plays and I love Liz so I thought going would be double the fun! I was right and Liz was AMAZING!  She was perfectly cast for the role as Bianca! She is so pretty and one the nicest people I have ever met!

The play was in Springfield, about 45 minutes and 217 corn fields away. So I was glad that Georgia could come with me so that I didn't get lost.

7. Fresh Flowers!
I wanted to take Liz some flowers for doing such an great job in the play and my sweet husband let me pick some out for us too! Fresh flowers are one of my favorite simple pleasures in life. They bring such joy. Plus we got this great vase for our wedding from Sean's cousins recently and we haven't used it yet so this was perfect! You can't see it very well but is has our name on and says est 2009. Way cute!

6. 10 tons of Gravel!
On my way into work on Tuesday traffic was painfully slow. As I was listening to the radio I learned that it was because a dump truck had had an accident and spilled his load of gravel all over the freeway! It was a huge mess. I felt bad for the guy who did it.

5.  When I am old I will wear Purple.
This week I had to go to the grocery store, all was great until I got in line behind this woman who was placing all 500 items that were in her cart onto the counter one at a time as the check out guy who is generally like lighting (this is why I chose his line) waited for items. I was worried about my sanity- and his- for a little while until I saw her shoes and then it made it worth it!

5. Plane ticket!
Madison got her plane ticket to come visit Sean and I in Ohio and I am so excited. She will be coming out with us in June when we return to Ohio after our Utah trip.

4. High Heels
This week was stake conference which means regular church meetings were not held. The sad part of that was that I didn't get to spend time with our Nursery kids. The happy part, I got to dress like someone who doesn't spend the majority of her Sunday on the ground which meant  high heels!

3. Hillary!

Hillary will be here in less than 2 weeks! 11 days to be exact. This is going to equal shopping, Kings Island, Titanic, Robin Hood, Gilmore girls, birthday celebrations, staying up late, laughing until we hurt, having food that regulary doesn't see the inside of our apartment, sleeping in, being silly....I can't wait!

2. Mark and Gina
Mark and Gina (Sean's parents) are going to be in Chicago for a buisness trip and they are going to stop in while they are in part of the country! They get to go to Kirkland while they are here and see all the places that Sean has been doing rotations, his old ghetto house and all of the things that we do here! Can't wait to see them!

Maybe next time I play this game I will be better at getting 10. For today however Happy Sunday!

The intersection of Hamilton and Morse Rd

On Saturday I was driving to Kohls in a part of Columbus that I’m not really familiar with, I was at a stop light and this silver car pulls up right next me- even though there is enough room for 2 cars in front of him- and he honks at me. I was alone at the time and I was thinking he wanted to kill me so I ignored him. He honked again. I pulled my car forward a bit. He moved forward, and, honked again! I was getting so nervous. I finally looked over at him after he honked for a third time and he motioned for me to roll my window down. (Yeah right!) I shook my head at him and he motioned again. This is what I’m thinking “he’s going to wait until my window is down to shoot me so that he doesn’t break any glass and this murder/car hijack will be a clean job.”

Despite my fears I rolled my window down a little and he proceeded to tell me that both of me brakes lights were out and people behind me can’t tell when I’m going to stop. No gun, no murder, no hijack. Just a good guy trying to help out. Now I feel like a jerk.

Birthday Celebration

My husband turned 28 years old this week!
We had a fun birthday celebration. Full of good food, family, presents, studying and Cake!

We started with a yummy stir fry and fresh fruit.

Sean LOVES Score Cake! This was my first time making it but he said I did good job so I will get to continue making it. Good thing too because he would have to wait until we are in Utah again to get it.
Thanks to his mom for sending us the recipe!

I took this picture right after the candles went out and caught the smoke!
Sean looks like it is suffocating him though.

Present time!

This was our birthday display that Sean said was mean because it was taunting him all week : )

Thanks Grandma, Grandpa, Ginger and Mark for the fun cards and well wishes!

Fun pictures from Lindee, Elli and Zander!
Lichelle took us out to dinner for our birthdays while she was visiting and Trent send a great birthday card as well!

We love the web cam! We go to have Sean's family and mine here to celebrate with us!

Sean's parents sent him Ticket to Ride, Applebee's gift card (our FAVORITE!) a great book and some new dress pants.
We have been wanting some more games that we can play just the two of us or with friends. We can't wait to try this one out.
Brad, Emily, Taylee, Jami and Sam made Sean a great birthday card and sent him some spending money. It was full of pictures of Sean as a little boy. We loved looking through it. Thanks!

My family sent him a new game too! So far we are tied. S won one and I won one. Thanks for the card too!

Sean has residency interviews coming up soon so I got him a new suit to wear to them. We were both happy to see the end of suit shopping come though. It was a lengthy process but we found the perfect one! It fit great, S liked it and it was on sale! Woo Hoo! Can't beat that.

Doesn't he look dashing?!

On Friday night we went to the Temple and then out to Applebee's (remember the gift card)
Thanks Mark and Gina!

It was a good birthday! 28 is going to be fun I can feel it!
Happy birthday love!

645 Player Court

Well it has been a week since I have been here but I feel like for a starter who is skeptical that is pretty good. Today I thought I could give you a tour of where we live. Try not to get bored. It won't last too long.

This is our building. It's a nice place.

This is the front room. Sad story though, the plant in the left corner, Louis, died. I gave him some house plant food thinking it would help him grow big and strong and it did the exact opposite!

This is the dinning area. Currently we have great red round place mats the red tulips (my favorite, and I am lucky enough to have a wonderful husband who surprises me with fresh ones often for no reason) in the center!

Little kitchen

This is kind of funny to post but I had to share this with you. Our faucet is CROOKED! I want to fix it every time I it use so one day I decided I had to take a picture so that I would never forget our funny little  crooked faucet.

This is the view from our back porch. We have a great pond and ducks! It was taken a few months ago but I loved how the sunset and the snow looked that evening.

This is our home! Have a great week.

First time for everything.

I love reading everyone's blogs but I have been nervous to start my own. I was kind of anti for while even. I'm not sure what came over today but here we go.....

I'll start today off by first wishing everyone a Happy Easter. I love this time of year! Spring is here (well for us, we live in Ohio and the weather is absolutely AMAZING!) For those of you in Utah, hold on. I know that spring wants to come.

I guess an introduction would be appropriate. We are Sean and Makenna.
We were married on December 22, 2009 and almost immediately moved to moved to Columbus, Ohio.

Sean is a 3rd year medical student doing his 3rd and 4th year rotations here. I work at Riverside Hospital and play wife in the evening, I enjoy trying new recipes and making our little apartment a home Sean is patient with me while I try out all sorts of experiments. Usually they turn out pretty good but we have had a few meals that we banned from our choices for dinner. We are so happy and we are enjoying our adventures here. It has been an adjustment but one we are learning together. I never knew being married could be so wonderful!

We are the nursery leaders for one of the three nurseries in our ward. Yes, there is a unnatural amount of children in this ward. We have the 18 months to two year olds. They are so much fun and they bring to such happiness to our lives every week. My favorite part is getting an endless amount of hugs while we are with them.

We love to play board games and we have enjoyed the friends we are making here. The bummer part about that is that many of them are moving in the next few months. The area we live in is composed largely of medical and dental students so all the 4th years are moving onto their residency programs. I am also excited for them though, I love watching how they are handling it and what they are doing to get ready because that will be us next year. Eeek!

I think this a good start. I will tell you more about us as I continue to experiment with the blogging world. It will give me something to entertain me while Sean is studying!
